Description

Spark is based on traditional ikats, fabrics created by resist-dyeing yarns before they are woven. The Chilewich design team looked to this multifaceted process—in which bundles of yarn are wrapped together, dyed in sequence, and then aligned on the loom to create a desired pattern—to inspire the development of a double weave flecked with blurred-edge bursts of color that extend vertically or horizontally, intersecting in dynamic crosshatchings. The large scale of Spark's repeat makes each worktop unique.

Cleaning

  • Cleaning is easy. Simply wipe the mat with soap and water, and allow to air dry.
  • Mats with visible food residue can be sprayed with soapy water, scrubbed with a soft-bristle brush, or soaked in soapy water and then rinsed.
  • Do not clean with alcohol-based cleaning agents, as they can break down TerraStrand yarns over time.
  • Citrus-based cleaning agents are also not recommended, as they can cause discoloration.
  • Do not wash in dishwasher or washing machine. Do not iron or dry with heat. A high-temperature sanitizer may be used up to once per week.

Chilewich was born in 2000 out of designer Sandy Chilewich’s passion for reimagining overlooked materials and underused processes to transform the way people around the world set their tables. In designing textiles that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also durable, versatile, and easy to wipe clean, we offer products that address a key element of sustainability: longevity. Every Chilewich product is made to endure decades of daily use and to look good doing it, while conserving the resources required by machine washing and product replacement.

Sustainability is also the quest for better, and we’re committed to continuing to make choices that are better for people and the planet. From raw materials to finished goods, design to production, we recognize that this is an evolution that encompasses manufacturers, consumers, and policymakers in a complex interplay of economics, engineering, and chemistry.

If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, we’ll take it back for a refund.

Please note: Custom orders, samples, gift cards and items marked "Final Sale" are not eligible for return or exchange.
