Chilewich is a New York City design studio known for woven vinyl textiles, including placemats, table runners, floor mats, shag mats and indoor/outdoor rugs. Designer Sandy Chilewich introduced the first woven textiles under the Chilewich name in 2000, and Chilewich designs are in the permanent collection of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.

Chilewich products are designed in New York City, and most are made in the USA from our own TerraStrand yarns. Our pressed / molded styles are made in Taiwan, and Metallic Lace is made in the USA from imported fabric. Check the product page for each item.

Our sustainability approach is longevity: products are made to last for years and are wiped clean rather than machine washed. Since April 2025, TerraStrand yarns include post-industrial recycled content, and as of October 2026 all TerraStrand products contain at least 14% recycled content. Since September 2025, yarns also include a patented technology designed to speed up breakdown at end of life. Learn more on our Sustainability page.

In-stock orders are processed and shipped within 1 to 2 business days. Custom orders take longer, and timelines are on our Shipping Policy page.

U.S. orders ship via UPS with Ground, Next Day Air and Second Day Air options, and rates appear at checkout and on our Shipping Policy page. Orders of $150 or more shipping within the contiguous U.S. qualify for free shipping.

Chilewich ships to APO addresses via USPS, and additional fees may apply. We do not ship to PO Boxes.

Once your order ships, you will receive a confirmation email with a tracking number and a link to follow your shipment. Stocked orders usually generate this email within 1 to 2 business days, and custom orders take longer. You can also log in, open Order History and select your order. 

Check the tracking link in your shipping confirmation email. If tracking says delivered but you cannot find the package, check around your delivery area and with neighbors. If the order looks lost or stuck in transit, please contact Customer Service.

Unused items in original condition with all labels and tags attached can be returned for a full refund when returned within 30 days of the shipped date. Custom products cannot be returned or refunded, and some exclusions apply. Start a return on our Returns & Refunds page.

Call Customer Service as soon as possible. Orders cancelled before they leave our warehouse receive a full refund, and in-stock items usually ship within 24 to 48 hours. Custom orders cannot be cancelled once processing has begun.

Yes. Table mats, woven floor mats, and indoor/outdoor mats are available in custom sizes; woven floor mats can also be made in custom shapes. Start on our Custom page. Custom orders cannot be cancelled or returned once processing has begun. Lead time for custom orders varies by product category.

Chilewich fabric is woven in 72-inch-wide rolls, so any mat wider than 6 feet is made from two panels seamed together. Seams run parallel to the length of the mat, sit in the middle unless you request otherwise, and are a normal part of how the mat is made. Mats wider than 12 feet have two evenly spaced seams

Chilewich products are individually crafted, so small variations are normal. Stock-size table mats can vary by up to 3/8 inch (0.95 cm), and all other products by up to 1/2 inch (1.27 cm).

Choose a rug that extends at least 24 inches beyond the table edge on every side so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. Add custom sizing if a standard size does not fit.
