From the Studio
At the Chilewich studio in the Flatiron District of NYC, our team of designers and master weavers take creative cues from cross-disciplinary arts and a wide range of cultures. Our inspiration board, (shown right), captures the spirit of our design process. It is taken down and built anew with each season.
Our woven rugs are made from phthalate-free TerraStrand® yarns with a slip-resistant synthetic latex backing. They contain at least 18% recycled content and 8% rapidly renewable content.
Most Chilewich woven rugs have slip-resistant latex backing and do not require a rug pad. On rough or textured floors, a pad can help protect the backing from abrasion.
Sweep, vacuum, or shake out loose dirt. Blot spills promptly with a damp, lint-free cloth. For persistent stains, use an appropriate spot cleaner. After cleaning, lift the rug and let both the rug and floor dry completely before putting it back.
No. Do not machine-wash or iron a Chilewich woven rug. For a deeper clean, we recommend hot-water extraction with mechanical brushing.
Yes. Chilewich woven rugs are designed for indoor or outdoor use with proper maintenance. Extended exposure to direct sunlight may cause fading over time.

Lift and air out the rug occasionally. After cleaning, let both the rug and floor dry completely before replacing it. Avoid placing rubber objects on the rug, as rubber can discolor it. On rough or textured floors, a rug pad can help limit abrasion to the backing.
